[2] Mac OS Runtime for Java 1.5.1 Security Patch

The Mac OS Runtime for Java (MRJ) 1.5.1 Updater fixes an MRJ 1.5 security flaw that could potentially allow Java applets to access a user's operating system. It's recommended that you load this update as soon as possible.

[4] Rhapsody for PC Compatibles to Ship in a Few Weeks

According to the Rhapsody development team, Rhapsody for PC Compatibles and Yellow Box for Windows will ship within the next few weeks. To receive these Rhapsody developer releases, you have to join an Apple Developer Program and register for the Apple Technology Seeding Program; go to the web site below for instructions on how to do this.

[8] Game Developers and Apple Promoting Top Mac OS Games

Apple, the Macintosh Entertainment Software Alliance (MESA), and computer resellers throughout North America have organized a "Buy Two, Get a Free Mac Game by Mail" promotion that will run from November 1 through December 31. Developers interested in joining MESA should send an e-mail message to Peter Tamte at ptamte@gtinteractive.com.

[9] Apple Extends Add-on Take-off Rebate to Power Macintosh 6500 Series

Apple is extending its Add-on Take-off promotion to its entire line of Power Macintosh 6500 computers. This promotion offers a variety of benefits, including cash-back rebates, to customers who purchase selected Apple products between October 11 and January 16.

Although the number of registrants for the European Developer Forum (EDF97) has already surpassed last year's record attendance, there's still space available. This year's technology-focused conference will provide in-depth insight into existing and emerging Apple platform technologies for both Mac OS and Windows developers.
